This photo blog features the ruins at the coastal fishing village of Jazirat Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah. The vernacular style of architecture as well as the materials used are evident in the remnants of the settlement. There are newer developments at the fringe of this village but there has been no attempt to reclaim the area within. Some of the buildings have been restored and recognized as protected sites. The deserted landscape appears to be very haunting but preserves the spirit of this historic neighborhood.
